Statement of Mattar Al Tayer marking the Union Pledge Day

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Commissioner General of Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Well-Being Pillar,  stated that the adoption of July 18th each year as "Union Pledge Day" by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, is a national occasion in which the people of the UAE celebrate the historic day that witnessed the blessed first steps of the union and the establishment of the United Arab Emirates. On this day, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers the Rulers of the Emirates signed the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution, while announcing the name of our country: The United Arab Emirates.

"On July 18, we remember the efforts of the founding fathers of the union in presenting the UAE to the world as a pioneering unionist model and the birth of a firmly established nation with clear landmarks and visions on the map of contemporary countries. Thanks to them, the state achieved comprehensive development in various fields. It initiated its historical and civilisational path with an array of economic, developmental, social, and urban achievements that have positioned it as a leading global commercial, financial, and tourism hub. Additionally, it has assumed a prominent global role in extending a helping hand to brothers and friends around the world to alleviate their suffering from a purely humanitarian standpoint,” commented Al Tayer.

"The Union Pledge Day joins other immortal days in the history of the UAE, which include National Day, Flag Day, and Commemoration Day. These national occasions remain etched in the memory of UAE citizens and serve as a headline of coherence among the people of the nation, enhancing the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the country and its wise leadership,” concluded Al Tayer.
