Approval of the Dubai Metro Blue Line Project

Within the framework of Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan’s objectives to position Dubai as “the best city for living in the world” by providing sustainable and flexible mass transit options that contribute to facilitating the travels and mobility of residents and visitors, improving the quality of life and enhancing Dubai’s global competitiveness as an attractive venue for international events as well as implementing the concept of the 20 minutes city, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the Dubai Metro Blue Line project, a new 30 km metro route that will strategically link key areas in the emirate through 14 stations, serving the anticipated growth of around one million residents. It will include three key interchange points like the Creek Station on the Green Line, Centrepoint Station on the Red Line, and Dubai International City Station 1 as well as the iconic station at Dubai Creek Harbour.

Furthermore, the Blue Line will connect with the Green Line at the Creek Station and intersects with the Red Line at Centrepoint station. It will also serve the residential and academic areas as well as development projects, accommodating an estimated population of about one million residents in 2040. In addition to that, the Blue Line will cater to one of Dubai 2040 Urban Masterplan’s Urban centres, the Dubai Silicon Oasis Centre, a knowledge and innovation international centre that attracts talents and minds, contributing to economic growth and the cultivation of knowledge.
